You look at me and say something surprising.

Where did you learn that? I ask with infinite delight.

Everything that comes out of you feels like a burst of joy. (Okay, maybe not everything, but almost everything.)

Perhaps it’s your tiny voice. Or the way you run with your whole little body, hair splashing side to side behind you. Maybe it’s that you are so new to this planet and what a fucking wonder it is that you can do or say anything at all.

With you I am patient.

Encouraging.

Enamored.

I speak life into you with ease.

You are powerful, I tell you, a hundred times a day.

I smush my face into you and shower you with kisses, and I love yous. It is never enough. I could devote all my days to the art of loving you and I’d still be bursting at the seams.

Sometimes a storm rolls in. It has gale-force winds that shake the whole house.

Which, of course, they do. Like I said, you are powerful.

I let you have it. You can have a bad day.

It is never a burden.

You are never a burden.

And somewhere in loving you this way, I keep meeting the little girl in me.

You show me how to shower a little girl with endless amounts of love instead of looking for all the ways she could be just a little bit better.

You do this just by existing.

You have always been enough.

Miraculous from the start.

For my paid Substack members, below you’ll find a fresh batch of playlists from the last few weeks.

And for yearly paid members, you’ll receive a link to access my private Song Bank. It updates constantly and holds over 3,000 classroom-tested songs from my years of teaching.

Thanks for being here!

I hope this helps you feel a little more loved.
